The questionnaire takes around 20 minutes. Your child will be asked to respond to pictures about how they react to sound, and the emotions they feel. We will not play any sounds. Please read our ethical code below, and check the box to show you have understood it.

The purpose of our research is to advance knowledge of sound sensitivities, so we will process your personal information and test responses to that end. Your decision whether to take part is voluntary and you can stop and withdraw at any point during the study without giving a reason (although it won't be practically possible to withdraw your data once you have finished and submitted the test). When the test is done, your anonymous results will enter into our secure database, and you will receive your score and automatic feedback about how this might relate to sound sensitivities. From time to time we also re-contact certain people to take part in further studies, and if you wish to do this, you can opt-in at the end by providing contact details (although you are not obliged to do this, and even if you do so, you are under no obligation to take part in the future). If you do opt-in for future studies, your personal information will be stored alongside your test score, but both remain confidential and will be handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation, subject to legal limitations. Any personal data will be held securely in a password-protected file on a University server, and we will not reveal them to any third party outside our research group, without your written permission. Results are published only anonymously/ statistically (in scientific reports resulting from this research and/or in data repositories for other researchers). This research program is ongoing and your data will be held until it is no longer scientifically valuable or cannot reasonably be maintained. This research has been approved by the Sussex SciTec Ethics Committee (C-REC: ref = ER/JCS41/47). University of Sussex has insurance in place to cover its legal liabilities in respect of this study.
